Happy Thanksgiving
Thursday, November 27, 2008

Happy Thanksgiving to all! We’re getting ready to sit down for a feast out here in Colorado with my Mom, Dennis, Jamie, Roger Brown, Sam Damon, and Karen Woodrow.

Over nearly three weeks – out in Summit County, Colorado – Sam and I put in 15 days of good training at Loveland and Copper Mountain in SG, GS, and slalom. Some of them were double or triple sessions so we’ve logged a lot of miles on snow. We were able to dial in my boots in GS and slalom and picked race skis for the next few series so we’re in a pretty good place. Right now we’re taking a few days off. Two days ago training with Stratton I straddled a slalom gate, became off balance, hit the next gate sideways just in front of my binding, lost my ski, and landed pretty hard on my left shoulder to sustain a first degree separation, which isn’t bad. I’ve seen two different trainers about it and have been doing a ton icing, stretching, and my mobility is improving. It’s still pretty sore so worst come to worst we won’t ski again until the races at Loveland, but we’re taking it one day at a time.

There has been a slight racing schedule change out here as well. Due to the lack of snow, and Winter Park’s limited desire of holding GS races, USSA changed the schedule so we’re only racing slalom out here in Colorado. On December 1st and 2nd we’ll have two slaloms at Loveland and then on the 4th and 5th we have two slaloms at Winter Park. I’d prefer to get two GS races in, but get over it.

Happy Thanksgiving!

We will be pushing out of the gate in no time!! Hope all is well, w
